Another mostly quiet day. Eli got put back on his cpap. We are actually somewhat encouraged though as this time he went more than twice as long as last time. Jack had his follow up echocardiogram today. Results were basically the same. He still has a strong heart murmur do to an open valve that typically closes shortly after birth for full term babies. While this is not a concern as he is not showing negative symptoms, it is stopping them from making a final determination about his aorta. They think his aorta is slightly narrowed, but as of now and likely until the valve closes, they are not going to be able to determine if his aorta narrows enough to cause any concern. For now we were told not to lose sleep over it and this is likely more about them being thorough than anything else. The plan is to continue to hold off from intervening on the PDA murmur since he is not showing signs of stress from it and it should close on its own as he grows. The next echocardiogram is in a week.
In other news... Kristin and I met another couple who have been a real blessing as they are natural encouragers. Their names are Jake and Quincey and they too had premature twins, a boy and a girl named Mila and Bryson. Their kids were born at 34 weeks a little over a week ago. At first, they had been told to expect several weeks in the NICU, but after great strides the last 2 days, they may be able to go home as early as this Sunday or Monday. Please keep them in your prayers...that they have no setbacks and make a smooth transition out of the NICU to home.
