Thought I'd make a second post tonight, this one not on our boys. We are so thankful for all of you. It is awesome to know we are so loved and that so many care. We are finding great peace in knowing God is in control and so many are lifting our family up daily to Him. When we learned we were pregnant, we asked God that our child (little did we know it was going to be children) have lives which glorified God. Kristin and I both know that can come in many shapes and sizes and we are doing our best to trust in His perfect plan for us and our boys.
That said, start counting the blessings: had they not been born, there could have been intrauterine death for one or both; had Kristin not had early symptoms of labor, we would not have been able to get steroids to develop the boys lungs and they would likely be on ventilators; had the hospital sent Kristin home when her contractions lessened, her water would have broke at home and there would not have been time to get magnesium on board to protect the boys heads from brain bleeds; had we not been in a modernized society, things would be very grim as there would be little access to this specialized healthcare. The above speaks volumes to how little we control, but how blessed we are. Today the boys turned one week old. We have a long way to go, but clearly, our God is an awesome God.
Now for the perspective part. Kristin received a call today from the hospital and was requested not to come in until late afternoon. Our boys are great they said, but there is a baby in the other room who requires emergency surgery and is too unstable to move to the OR. We are not sure of the babies name or exact issue as the hospital cannot disclose information. We do know the baby had a 3 hour surgery just 15 feet from our boys and is now stable but still very sick.
Obviously we know anything can change, but we are so thankful our boys are doing well and are very aware others are in much worse situations.
We appreciate the prayers, please keep em coming.
Brent & Kristin
