10/12 Update

Jack gave us another scare today as he almost worked his way into an isolation room. Based on how much/color of mucous he was producing, there was concern he had an RSV infection. After doing a culture, it came back negative. He either has a small cold or it is possible it is just a symptom of his PDA murmur and is now more noticeable due to his ventilator. Either way, these are minor concerns and as long as it does not progress, it is ok. The other good news is he is handling the medicine really well and has not showed any negative side effects at all. This means if the medicine has worked even in the slightest, he will likely get another round of medicine before surgery is even considered. The follow up echocardiogram is tomorrow afternoon and we should know results of the medicine sometime before dinner.

Eli is continuing to do well. His stomach was a little bigger again today which prevented him going from CPAP to cannula. He is clearly holding onto something in that belly as he showed a GIANT weight gain again today.

Eli is now 4 lb 11 ounces and Jack is 3 lb 0 ounces. We will not be surprised at all if both come back 1 or 2 ounces the next couple days as they have both been having huge weight gains. It will be nice to say goodbye to the 2 lbs permanently.

I probably will not post again tonight, but I will post Jack's test results tomorrow as soon as I am able.

  1. I'm sure you're breathing a little easier. Glad to hear that it's probably just a tiny cold. Will cont. to pray that that's the case. Hoping and praying that any weight loss will be very small. Hugs!
