Prayer Request

The roller coaster showed itself again last night/this morning. Jack was having a progressively more difficult time breathing yesterday. His nightly blood gases showed a spike in his carbon dioxide level. After a couple treatments which only helped minimally, he was put on a ventilator for the first time. He has responded well with the ventilator at minimum pressure and his gases are back to normal. However, the X-ray of his chest showed extra fluid around the heart and lungs. They are going to check again later this morning and then the neonatologist and cardiologist are going to make a recommendation on what to do. They are trying to determine if his lungs are simply getting tired and need a break, or if the PDA murmur is starting to allow too much blood to go to the lungs. I am not going to go into the treatment options benefits/risks, but they range from waiting to see if there could be improvement to medicine to surgery. Each have their own risk, some of which are exaggerated by our boys swollen tummy pasts. Please pray this clears up and Jack just needed a break. Keep Kristin and I in your prayers too...strength and a clear mind.

  1. Ack! Little buddy, We're praying that you're just asking for a break from having to work so hard to grow right now, and that Mommy and Daddy and Eli can be brave and strong right now! It's hard work being such a trooper and you're doing an awesome job! We love you guys!
